Yeah I haven’t carried any cash for years and most of the time I offer to buy them food they decline. Once in awhile they take me up on the offer and are thankful but I am still always a little worried they are gonna throw it in my face after that experience I had as a kid.

It’s a shit situation all around.

I’ve been homeless twice. Thankfully I had a car and I could live out of it temporarily while I found some family to save my ass while I got back on my feet.

If I hadn’t had family keep me from rock bottom it’s hard to say if I would have pulled out of those situations on my own.

Unfortunately for many people they have little to no empathy for homeless because they have been lied to or attacked by homeless and they then view all homeless that way.

I remember once in my teens I skateboarded over to a sandwich place to get lunch for myself and my brother. On the way there I passed a homeless guy with a sign asking for “anything”. I decided to get him a sandwich while I was there. Just a basic turkey sandwich or something as plain as I could think of. When I tried to give him the sandwich he threw it back at me and told me I should have just given him the money so he could get drunk.

That experience really tainted my view of the homeless from that day onwards. Then later in life I would have two different girlfriends get grabbed by homeless people over the years.

I have a buddy that lived downtown and the homeless people there were always breaking their windows and stealing their stuff. One of them set fire to the side of their house out of boredom. When the police came they just escorted him to the street and then left. He didn’t get tried for arson or anything. The cops don’t care. They have no system in place to deal with those people.

Its easy for people to have empathy for a group that they have never interacted with. Anyone who lives near homeless or regularly interacts with homeless people will tell you that not all of them are good people who just got abandoned by society. Some of them are evil bad people who have refused help or just don’t want it. Most of them need mental support.

It’s a very complicated issue and I dont think it has any easy or cheap solutions.

Even though she’s my mother I tend to agree. It’s selfish and stupid. Thankfully it’s pretty much the only thing she’s bad about. So I guess it could be much worse. Still. Bothers me greatly and time we are out and about with her dog.

I love dogs. All dogs. Love them to death.

My fucking mom just lets her little dog go wherever it wants and she almost never has it on a leash. I keep telling her that something is going to go wrong and it will be her fault because she wasn’t on a leash, it my mom doesn’t seem concerned because she has her dog trained fairly well. And to be fair she does come and stay on command, but I still just find it irresponsible to have a dog in public without a leash.

I can input lots of numbers very fast without looking down with a num pad. I cannot do that with the number row. I have to look down at some point and it’s much slower.

I literally will not ever daily use a keyboard if it doesn’t have a number pad.

Any time I’m forced to temporarily use anything without a num pad I feel like I’m driving a car that’s missing half it’s steering wheel or something. It just feels wrong.

I miss pink guys music and I hope Joji just randomly drops the most random shitposting album or just puts on the pink suit and does that again one last time. He’s probably never going to, but I know lots of us that grew up with him would enjoy it one last time.

On one hand I’m allergic to bees (not deadly but definitely dangerous for me), but on the other hand I kinda want the world to continue to have life on it… It’s a real struggle who I’m rooting for here.

Nah floppy was the earliest days storage that I legit interacted with in my life. I have held a datasette and older stuff but they were not still being used. Just stuff found in storage and the like.

Why must you do this to me. I’m already having a shit day and now you remind me that I was there when CDs replaced floppy. god dammit.

I truly do not understand how this bothers people. In other countries you have to prove who you are to vote. It’s ludicrous to me that there hasn’t been a requirement to prove who you are this whole time.

Holy shit I’m gonna have a stroke.

I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that many many people are driving around on tires that are way below minimum acceptable tread wear here in California. Some of them just don’t understand. Some are incompetent. Some are poor.

When I recently got all 4 of my tires replaced I watched the tire techs warn several customers that the tread on their tires was too low and every single one of them said they couldn’t afford new tires right now so rotate them and let them leave.

A tire tax would likely just increase the number of people trying to stretch a tire way past it’s recommended minimum tread depth for safety in order to save money. This would have a negative effect on road safety in the long run.

Not to mention it would also just incentivise people to put on the hardest and longest lasting rubber they can find meaning that in cold or wet conditions they will have significantly worse performance again leading to more accidents.

The tire tax idea seems like a very bad idea.

Now I do have this one reoccurring dream where I’m peddling s bicycle and I can’t stop not matter how hard a try… Not a fan of that one.
