Summary

Sen. Bernie Sanders slammed Donald Trump’s repeated claim that millions of dead people are receiving Social Security, calling it “a total, absolute lie” during a CNN town hall.

Trump has joked about elderly recipients being over 160 years old, despite his own Social Security commissioner confirming such records don’t reflect actual payments.

The SSA says over 99% of benefits go to eligible recipients.

Critics, including Sanders, argue Trump and allies like JD Vance and Elon Musk are using baseless fraud claims to justify future cuts to Social Security.

It was cleared up to people who care about factual information. Unfortunately those people increasingly not only aren’t in charge, but aren’t even being allowed into the building.
