I have a dual 27” 4k setup, one of which is portrait. I like it a lot, but every time I see my friends ultra wide I consider switching to one. I just can’t justify spending $1k when what I have works well enough.

Our first past the post +presidential election system means that a third party, particularly a splinter third party will just pull votes from the not as terrible party, strengthening the opposition parties electoral strength. Funding third parties in close races to split the opposition has been a strategy of both Republicans and Democrats.
I can’t wait to visit Starfleet Medical to get my back and stomach fixed, live in a post scarcity utiopia, see other worlds, and study whatever I want.
EDIT: I think the worst thing will be contemplating the metaphysics of transporters. But maybe I’ll just never take one.
There’s a major subtlety here that a top line fertility rate measurement is missing. Fertility (births/1000 people) has risen dramatically among Americans in their 30’s and 40’s! But it has dropped for people in their 20s and collapsed for teenagers. In the 90’s teenagers were having babies at the same rate as people in their early 30’s (!!), and now they aren’t. People in their early 20’s are having fewer because of easy and cheap birth control, education and attempts to establish careers. You don’t need a big conspiracy to explain that.
