I think well adjusted people participating in their communities and meaningful action are not burning cars.

Do you buy Nestle products? Do you buy anything from Amazon? Do you drive an ICE car and purchase gas for it?

The car still has utility to the person who owns it. It’s “real” value is irrelevant to most people so long as it does what it was supposed to do when purchased.

Once you purchase the vehicle, the damage is already done. There is nothing to gain from busting up cars people already purchased.

As someone who was raised in a conservative family but who climbed through a great many hoops to finally arrive at socialist thought: if you nutters were the left while I made that journey, I doubt I ever would have finished it.

Where is this energy in our unions and community groups? Where are these people in town halls and school board meetings? Where are the canvassers, the volunteers, the organizers?

People are way too focused on change at the federal level. You need to start small and local, building groups that can create the grassroots support actual leaders will need to get elected.

Start with your cities and counties and work your way up.

Another example: the Protestant Work Ethic and excessive individualism, causing people to scoff at the idea of improving working conditions, and blaming the poor for their fate. Australia and the UK are having similar experiences.

Notably Québec, despite being in Canada, is not experiencing this problem to anywhere near the same degree. This is the hint that something is deeply wrong with English-speaking media.

I’ve been seeing people advocating ruining random Teslas and it’s pissing me off. Do people think rightoids make up the majority of EV early adopters? Fucking think about it before you go off spray painting swastikas onto innocent people’s cars holy shit.

I’m in a union that is about 70% women. A woman leads the union. Women get special delegates to the general meeting as do other minorities. You cannot criticize this without getting into some trouble.

I’m a lefty and I cannot safely discuss this. It’s very frustrating.

Sorry I don’t understand, you want a source about the protestors getting their accounts frozen, or about the coverage of that event? I’ve seen both but the meta-coverage will be harder to find because it is largely confined to Medium/Substack/blogs/etc…

Let’s pretend any of that actually matters and the US government doesn’t have a history of losing to locals, and ask the following: what happens if you willingly disarm yourself? Criminals will still have guns, your police will still shoot “less-lethal” rounds into the heads of protesters, and you will still be oppressed.

What do you get out of this? A fraction of the illusion of safety? And all it cost you was the last defense against oppression anyone has.
