  • If it makes you feel any better I’m lost as well since the points they made in their attempted speech is just incorrect.

From 2000 through 2008, majorities ranging from 54% to 69% believed the federal government should ensure universal coverage in the U.S. (link)

The rest is bizarre word ramblings, “he achieved something that nobody thought possible”, “his legacy will be dismantled”.

It’s kinda interesting, like he’s specifically blaming you for hurting Obama’s reputation and the country at large… Not that people in charge should be held accountable or have some sort of standard for what they campaign for. I’m happy for the people who benefited from ACA, but plenty people still don’t and I imagine a lot of people don’t realize you are fined if you’re uninsured because of the act. Reminds me of being penalized for being homeless.

In other words, unless the insurance premiums exceed 8 percent of your income, you’re a religious objector, a taxpayer with income below the tax-filing threshold, or a member of an Indian tribe, you’re required to have insurance. That is, unless you’d rather pay the penalty, which is enforced through the tax code system.

It’s that same fucking shtick with the whole student loan debacle. Keep the current profit generating system in place and pass laws and subsidies to help prop it up and stay as lucrative as possible. Any actual awareness or targeting of the greed is completely swept under the rug, so it’s hard for me to get excited about this one step forward-two steps back bullshit. Especially when there’s already so many perfectly acceptable examples around the world to learn and develop functional systems from.

  • Oh man, talk about a head fuck. Sending drugs/immigrants to Canada and guns/gangs to Mexico. We(usa) are rightly fucked as a society, over half of us probably feel a weird joy of being such a cluster fuck of a trailerpark neighbor. The shit we prop up, including narcissistic actions being praised, makes me glad that I’m seeing so many countries pushing back on importing more “American culture” and going by their own light.

I think the “seriously fuck america” is a little much and vague. Even if immigrants and drugs from Mexico were previously perceived wrongly (at least in amplitude and hysteria), I never thought “fuck Mexico”. I think people are kinda forgetting that even if the coaches have changed, this is still America’s playbook. They’re not going to play unless they make us pay. We’ve been targeting smaller countries and doing the same bullshit with a clean smile to the world for decades. Look at the ACA, now everyone HAS to have insurance (doesn’t help affordability, and sometimes costs more), and they’ve tacked on a yearly fine if you don’t comply while basically allowing the government to subsidize the insurance ceos.

We’re a publicly traded country now though instead of being privately cut-throat. Stock holders want their continued profits and they see bigger gains in bigger countries.

  • lol I think this is my favorite crazy comment in here. You’ve literally taken on the persona of an old country and decreed you can judge because of your history. Not that you’re just a human being who probably hasn’t done shit-fuck for the country in your lifetime, but please keep taking credit for… I don’t even know what.

  • Eh, I would argue Obama was a better candidate but I don’t want that to be the focus. I want better policy and follow-through with a group that will actually speak and engage with constituent dialog. I think even if someone like Sanders would’ve been elected that the Dems would drag their feet as a party with trying to pass anything effectove.

After the whole Debbie Waserman-Shultz (sp, I know) thing, I’ve been very interested in the individuals who run the day-to-day operations of the party and if they’re legitimately promoting progressive candidates and policy with their procedures. If we don’t hold the Dem party responsible for the people running it, not just elected individuals, it’s going to remain a power hungry organization only interested in their continued thriving (and whatever fucked up metric they’re using to determine that).

  • I thought the entire SNL50 shit was kinda gross when watching a few segments of it. Every skit (especially the adam sandler song), had references to “Lauren’s” horrible work ethic and how much of a psychological shit storm working on that show is.

    • Multiple references to Norm Mcdonald being fired for speaking out about OJ
    • the loss of members (some from drug use because of the industry and the show they’re now continuing to promote).
    • turmoil and treatment of the staff and writers
    • obvious racial bias, especially for the weekend update teams in the past

Like it just kept going on and on with little jokes telling how much of a crap place it is, then everyone smiles and says, “Thank you Lauren!!” I honestly doubt if George Carlin was alive, that they would’ve asked him to come back and host (he was the first host).

If this would’ve been the last show, like they all decided to hang up the towel. Then sure, treat it like graduating from a crappy ass highschool you’re just so thrilled to be out of, you can enjoy the last day. But all the appearances and references just reminded me of how shitty SNL has really been over the decades. Sure some great writers and performers, but those have been squeezed and mutilated out of creative individuals for decades for our entertainment.

I really have nothing to say about the “outrage from conservatives” lol, that just feels like clickbait for every side.

  • Oh, I was hoping more for an article or a statement made by a person of authority that was saying “The procedure was done according to this report by our intelligence officials and thus we conduct ourselves this way” kinda link. I mean what you’re saying sounds plausible but that link from 2015 even says it was just social media kinda data if anything was actually real to begin with (nobody would confirm the validity, etc). I could see them using the scare tactics, just would like to see someone actually stating what the situation is.

  • I question that because I remembered reading articles that had discussions with the photographer from the before times. Alas, the internet is dead and every search result for Eugeny Hramenkov is either copy/pasted AI mouth gargle or articles talking about how “Elon Musk used the meme!!” (fucking christ I wouldn’t put it past the dude that all these sites are his own promotional shit). It’s so completely sad to have had the internet information age for just a small hopeful glimpse before it all came completely crumbling down.

  • I get what you’re saying, if this was a hollywood “Carry-on” kinda movies. But, something doesn’t pass the smell test.

Why would a gang target a service member performing a deportation flight to another country? What benefit could they receive from being exposed going after a private who’s just guard duty on a plane? If it’s just a, “there’s no benefit, they’re just evil and target people for fun” I would need some actual evidence of something like this being done and the procedures put into place after to just trust any ol’ internet stranger proclaiming subject knowledge.

  • As a kid I was conflicted with the act of making symbols or such things illegal, like @[email protected] said above it’s all protected so I’m not sure what people wanted arrests for since it wouldn’t hold and it’s another victim complex for the poor white nationalist to hold or gives cops more leeway for future incidents.

Now as an adult who’s lived most of his life in the southern states of America, we really fucked up the Reconstruction Era after the civil war. Things like banning the symbols of hatred drastically reduces the influence it has on vulnerable populace.

Instead, those same sadistic leaders who used humans for fodder got to stay in control and continue spreading their influence and corrupting greed in their domain. These are literal breeding grounds with school age children flying flags of enemy armies that sought to enslave and conquer the country.

Ban it, ban it all to make a statement that “Yes, this shit is unacceptable for a human society”.

  • I was excited about eve for maybe a month or two, it’s not worth it. They present this grand game where everything is possible, only to realize it’s only possible if you spend 200$ a month and give up your personal life for it. Just way too many systems designed around a game that exists for monthly subscriptions and micro transactions (nice ship, would be a shame if you couldn’t fly it because you didn’t pay us this month, oh but you can still log in and fly our less efficient ship…). Definitely impressive, but the financial pull really takes the heart out of the game.

  • Interesting, I wasn’t really a fan of his before but been watching him off and on for the past couple of months. His format must’ve changed because I wouldn’t really consider his video’s gossip (I only get his news videos in my feed, not sure if he does others).

Ok, so I was curious and went to his channel and browsed his videos. You’re absolutely right it used to be all internet “fame” gossip lol, with maybe a news story sprinkled in here and there. It seems he’s decided to shift his stance looking at the last couple of months. I honestly don’t mind the gossip sprinkled in because I don’t have the energy to keep up with all the influencer drama and I’m usually left confused when I hear about it.

I’ll admit I was surprised with realizing that post was from defranco, usually he’s way more neutral about his position when reporting on things. He’s trying to come off as genuine but then it all falls apart when he describes people yelling and just generally using a negative tone giving his position away.

  • I honestly read it both ways. I was confused and looked at your further comments for clarity but people before me didn’t have that luxury. What is a Los Angelenos? To a progressive it means anyone residing in the city limits (or once did), to a right-wing definition it would be the registered approved-citizens (blah blah).

This article also centers around the premise of the protests, so by saying “they don’t need this right now”, it seems you’re demeaning the protests and not the ICE actions which have been on-going. It’s apparent after reading more, but your first comment wasn’t a clear, concise, and easily communicated premise or else you wouldn’t see all of the confusion obviously
