They have a Socialist Market Economy, they never abandoned Socialism, just course-corrrected from losing sight of Materialism and trying to achieve Communism through fiat, rather than by builsing up the productive forces.

There’s going to be Marxists on Lemmy, the lead developers of the software are Marxist-Leninists and some of the largest instances are explicitly Socialist-aligned.

Hey, real quick, nobody thinks the Russian Federation is somehow still Marxist, the Soviet Union was dissolved in the 90s and Marxism went with it. Further, China is not a “Utopia,” it is Marxist-Leninist but it’s in the early stages of Socialism, and the Russian Federation is far worse off under Capitalism.

If you want to correct your blurb, that would be far more accurate.

Just want to add, the CPC is Marxist and is working off of Marxist economics. Their party ideology is Marxism-Leninism Xi Jinping Thought, which is Marxism-Leninism applied to modern China’s conditions and under Xi Jinping.

Now, that doesn’t mean it’s some Utopia, and that also doesn’t mean it’s a far-future Communist society, just that they are in the early stages of Socialism.

The US intentionally leaving the organizations they have domination over as a means to exert soft power globally would certainly be good for weakening the US Empire. This seems like a case where the architects of Empire failed to raise successors and as such the ones with the reigns are now “true believers” in the architects’ web of lies.

Genuinely don’t understand what you mean. Go to Hexbear, grad, .ml, whatever, and ask everyone’s opinions on Pol Pot. It’s 99% going to be negative, perhaps with some minor nuance considering the utter mess that was the Sino-Soviet Split and the US’s CIA partnership with Pol Pot. Reddit, however, does have quite a few Gonzaloists on r/communism now, and Gonzaloists generally defend Pol Pot as well.

Pol Pot defenders pretty much only exist on Reddit, Gonzaloism is near universally hated by all of Lemmy’s Marxist-aligned instances.

If we are to agree with Engels, Communes (or cooperatives) consist entirely of Petite Bourgeoisie, unless there is no interaction outside said commune. Trade between communes implies each commune wishing to get more out of the trade, which implies differences in material wealth in communes that can then escalate into Capitalism. It isn’t what we think of as a State, but some form of armed millitia must be maintained to enshrine ownership within a commune, and not outside it, ergo a state enforcing class distinctions.

Really, though, I think the term “stateless” brings ideological baggage rather than logical. What’s important is the structures themselves, not how we wish to label them. Conversations around “true” Communism or whatnot inevitably fall into ideological debate based in idealism, rather than a logical analysis of material conditions.
