It’s surprising it worked. It’s a really well-known tactic, owed to being on every cop show ever. Pretty sure it’s totally above-board, though. Anything you leave behind (trash, crumbs, maybe a bit of saliva) is fair game. Unfortunate.

Forcefully ending the protection early despite it being established by the previous president? Hell no.
That is indeed what I was thinking of.
Wow, holy fuck. According to the article, they confessed to killing a man, dismembering the body, and throwing his head into the Rio Grande… and the ADA was such a superstitious fuckup that it doesn’t matter. How does a guy like this get to that station in the first place?
“I have no idea who the men I ordered to drag this woman away are,” said the sheriff.

I’d say it’s not so much pro-Palestine, but more is just so anti-Jewish that it turns into de facto support.

There’s a big difference between being realistic and fearmongering. For instance, if there was no history of domestic and foreign entities utilizing astroturfing to undermine democracy and people were saying it’s happening now, that’s fearmongering. Considering that there is, however, and that it seemed to work last time, it’s naive to assume that it wouldn’t happen again, especially when similar patterns of behavior emerge, including the presence of a new hot-button topic that can be utilized. That’s realism.
Also, how incredibly low of you. By ending your negative response to me with “free Palestine,” you’re clearly trying to imply that I am somehow with my responses showing some implicit support for Israel’s genocide. Again, how low of you.
New “Leopards Ate My Face” dropped. In this fun twist, however, after seeing the Leopards Eating Faces party feed people’s faces to leopards multiple times, the user continues to give the party the benefit of the doubt when confronted with the likelyhood that it’s happening again.
Community score being 36 makes me think this might be a well-known crack. Check the community tab there, see what the comments say.
> Pretending we didn’t see it happen already
Allow me to remind you of Rally Forge’s “America Progress Now” and Jeff Ballabon’s “Jexodus” as two recent examples.
I love when people ignore parts of my comments for the sake of their argument.
Those of us who disliked Biden and thought Harris wasn’t enough held our contempt and voted against the bad man.
Yeah, except for the fact that I know a lot who didn’t. It might be a shock to you, but there was a big push in left-leaning communities here on Lemmy and elsewhere on the web to either not vote for Harris or not vote at all. It was so fucking full-force in major leftist communities with so little interest in Trump that I’m convinced it was a targeted disinfo campaign. One that worked.
Been saying it for days, so I’ll say it again.
Survive now, protest later. Killing yourself and everyone else is not an effective message.
Simple, because those are the people it should matter to. Those are the people with the most to lose. Those are the people who are more likely to have LGBTQ+ friends and family. The moderates don’t give a shit and should never have been catered to in the first place, but these people tossed aside the people and things they claim to love in order to make a stand. That’s why I expect more from them, because they’re in a position to be more hurt by it.
I find it amazing that no one seems to have any sense of… well, really, fucking anything anymore. Self-preservation, empathy, pragmatism, whatever. It amazes me that people can sit by and let the place burn around them, and then turn around and say, “Hey, maybe you should’ve made me want to save myself and my neighbors.”
Anyone with the slightest sense of empathy or self-interest should look at Trump and think “It would behoove me keep that out of power.”
Pretty sure I saw a news report lately about Teslas getting burned in a wildfire, and IIRC, the batteries were exploding violently and scattering hazardous waste.
