It should be clear by now that any “rule” the Trump administration comes up with only applies to themselves.
Not really the best example IMO. The J6 insurrection was a riot and not a demonstration. And it failed even though it was backed by the President.
I don’t really agree with this take. The protests in cities are not limited by geography. The US has 9 cities with more than a million inhabitants, most of them voting blue. The lack of a social safety net is not a real argument either, as protests usually happen on the weekends and from the afternoon to the evening. If we compare the numbers just for cities alone: My hometown has a population of 1.8 million. About 5% of that population attended the local protest. If we compare this to a city like New York, which has 8.2 million inhabitants (and public transportation), 410,000 people should be out on the streets. Again, our situation is not even remotely as bad, so the numbers should be even higher in the USA.
I obviously can’t speak for the exact reasons why the numbers are so low, I just know that it doesn’t just boil down to reporting, geography or ability. You could pull these numbers easily, if the will to do it were there.
I regularly read about those huge crowds but anytime I check, it’s never more than 30.000 people. My country has less than a third of the US population and there were over a million protestors on the streets in one weekend because the center right voted with the far right on the same bill. There were over 80.000 people just in my city alone and our situation is not even remotely comparable to the things that have been happening in the USA.
I’m not trying to shit on anyone going out there to do something, but considering the circumstances it should be so much more. This is not an issue of the media not reporting enough. There were no huge reports ahead of the demonstrations in my country either. It just happened through social media and networking. After all that happened Americans are still not fed up enough. And if it doesn’t happen now, I’m not sure it ever will.
declining approval ratings, citing a new Quinnipiac poll showing 53% of voters disapprove of his second-term performance
Another Quinnipiac poll from last month determined 45 percent approved of Trump’s performance and 49 percent disapproved.
So half of the people still approve of what he’s doing? How does such a small percentage even justify a news article with such a ridiculous headline? The US are so cooked it’s not even funny. Wake me when it’s at 90% disapproval.
Imagine having a president who openly and willingly crashes the economy and still having almost half the voting population support his geriatric ass. Life must be tough for the sane Americans.
Not sure if Hitler even deserves the mention here. His haircut really wasn’t anything out of the ordinary.
Or maybe a Hungary-style election where the entire media landscape shills for the ruling class and people on social media are bombarded with misinformation and one-sided reporting.
My guy, I used work for a large manufacturer up until recently. The problem is very real and we got complaints every other day. Just because there’s no recall doesn’t mean there is no problem. The Tesla thing is obviously different because they rejected the self driving application on these grounds, which only one manufacturer even offers in Germany.
No, I’m saying Tesla’s system sucks, but other manufacturers also should also get their shit together because it’s a general problem.
I’ve had two pretty bad events with a Ford and a Mercedes. The Ford hit the brakes at 160 km/h on the wide open Autobahn for absolutely no reason. The Mercedes did it on a more rural road and caused the person behind me to honk their horn. I figure that one might’ve been caused by the bushes growing close to the road but it still wasn’t very pleasant.
Not defending Tesla, but phantom braking is an issue on a lot of new cars, even without autopilot. It’s the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) that is now required in the EU. I don’t think any manufacturer has figured out a way to make it 100% reliable yet.
It’s not really fair to criticize privatization of state assets when the country is under attack and running on fumes. It’s unfortunately a necessity to keep going. I seriously doubt it would’ve happened in peace time.
This goes both ways though. Maybe it’s time for the EU to interfere in the elections on behalf of democratic parties?
Probably copyright.
They will just call it Freedom Juice™ and write on the packaging that it makes the food taste more better.
