We keep hearing this and keep having to repeat: these fucks don’t give a shit about hypocracy so long as they get their way. They cannot be logic’d out of their shitty, racist views and will bull head-long into things till it fucks them over.

For anyone who is working in the oil industry: as things get worse and more people are impacted by climate change more and more, you’re who those effected will come after. Not the CEOs high up and out of reach - it’s gonna be you guys operating the rigs, inspecting the pipelines, driving the tankers, operating the plants, and crunching the numbers. It’s going to be you who gets targeted because you’re the ones with the logo stamped on your uniforms.
The big problem is the state which has such extreme power.
The big part that makes those states work is default compliance, which allows that state to commit violence using everyone who complies (which is everyone by default). Individuals being non-compliant directly translates to power being syphoned away from the state. This is why morality and ethics education are so Important, as the state cannot do anything immoral if individuals refuse to do immoral actions. The second most important thing is transparency, since states utilize opacueness as a means to obfuscate the morality of actions. This is one reason why dense hierarchies are utilized in governments - to obfuscate actions and provide personal deniability to members of the state infrastructure.
Yeah, mostly. I understand they were politically very different. My main lense I was looking through in this case was progressive policy vs regressive policy.
Could trump be our hoover/Reagan and Walz end up being our Roosevelt/Gore?
History rhymes, but I’m not saying we’re gonna see ground breaking changes that bring the federal government back from the brink. Walz just seems like a possible candidate for garnering mass approval across the board and potentially unopposed enough to social programs to maybe implement some.
Which is why he prevented delayed a high speed train in the US. To my knowledge, they are still constructing it.
Just checked: it’s still underway. 119 miles currently under construction. From Bakersfield to Madera, with most of the rail near Madera completed.
When SatansMaggotyCumFart says something, I take it dead serious.
Kind of a suicide move. Like, they let the mass murderer in, so you’re letting everyone die to spite them.
We know that project 2025 is essentially a complete dismantling of democracy, so what the hell do they think they’ll get out of letting it happen? Aside from getting lined up against a wall?
I don’t know what you mean by that. Violence is always an option, and is quite often a solution. It’s never the optimal solution, but quite often a perfect solution does not exist. You’re competing with violence - violence is the control, and if you can’t come up with a solution better than it in time, people will opt for it.
Are those astronauts back on earth yet? No? Still stranded on the ISS? Okay…
The logistics chain doesn’t end at the border of the US military-industrial complex. Everyone in the US is culpable. We all assist in one way or another to keep this war machine running. We are impelled to do so via the coercion of the system, just as the soldiers are. We’re all criminals.
This meme is like leaning on a railing to get bearing in a dark room only for it to drop out from under you when the lights turn on.
Having also been born and raised in the United States and having met a variety of people from various walks of life, I am of the opinion that he hit the nail square on the head. I’ve met kind selfless people, sure, but that is the exception to the rule most often.
He wasn’t, Charles was born and raised in Britain, but later in his career he visited the US for his journalist work.
Uhh, nah that’s not new. Charles Dickens explicitly talked mad smack about how greedy and self-enamoured Americans were, and their general worship of the wealthy. It was a severe kick in the head to his previous conceptions of America being a place of prosperity and opportunity.
I know a certain firearms guy who’s pointed out gun culture’s hypocrisy for quite a while (most recent video regarding it).
This is just the start, and will likely involve the West bank next. After that, it’s likely that Israel will attempt expanding into its neighbors.
And it’s not just to get some old dudes even richer - it’s also to further crush the ability of the middle east to rebel or obtain meaningful autonomy.
Honestly, we don’t know where he was actually aiming. He could’ve been aiming center mass and just sucked, which might line up with the whole story about him not being allowed into the marksmanship club at his school.
