  • the income of wealthy individuals is not used purely for the fulfilment of their needs and wishes

You need to understand wealth as power, and the wishes of the wealthy being to exercise that power over others.

Their role in “allocating resources in society” is controlling the resources of society. But what is “rule” if not “control of the resources of society”? What is democracy if the rich have all of the power over society.

It’s a damn lie, is what it is.

Taxation is a demand by the demos to control the resources of society. That is, it is a demand for democracy.

Which means the rich can allocate themselves into a fucking hole, stuff their heads up their own asses, and suffocate.

  • 100%. The people who have turned away from the Republican party have only done so out of a distaste for Trump, and maybe Elon. They are almost certainly not opposed much of what is being done, just how they are going about it, and who is doing it.

Or, they’ve just had their faces eaten by leopards, and are upset that they’re suffering the consequences of their actions.

You don’t get to be a Republican in 2016 or 2024 without being ok with burning the whole system down, with dreams of it being to your own benefit. They just don’t trust the current would-be monarchs to be the ones to actually give them what they believe they’re due.

I mean, most of the communities are on .world, and if they’re not federating with .world, they’re just not going to show up in the majority of comment sections.

But also, HB is much more of a communal space than most of the big instances, and much more aligned on how they engage with off-site content. And as the fediverse grows horizontally, a significant part of it probably going to be through focused instances, rather than more general purpose sites. We have those covered already, and most of the people interested in something like that aren’t going to leave Reddit anytime soon.

    They have what they want.

This means there will be more “we don’t want to host this kind of content” discussions over time, not fewer. The fediverse will look more patchwork, not less.
