I’m also with you on CC. Fortunately I do well enough, but I live within my means and pay it off each month. I put things off I cannot afford until I’ve saved enough for it. Or I just do without. If they had layaway, I’d do that since I grew up with that sort of thing.

Those reasons you responded to are ancillary and for another day. A brass-ring for the fascists for sure if they can pull it off.

The basic reasons are more immediate: sowing instability with (US and NATO) allies in order to tear down the fabric between nations aligned against Russia. Thus removing impediments for Russian expansion of power or territory. The resulting and effective distraction is for instituting fascism and the ransacking of our coffers mentioned by someone else and is also very real. The primary goals are Russian goals. The secondary goals are the prizes for the oligarchs and any that help with the primary goals.

“Jumping the shark” is the term for this. I remember watching Happy Days when the Fonz did just that.

Do you think they care about function? Are you not already aware that destruction and mayhem are the points? These a-holes are not here to serve or help the public, they are here to cause as much damage to the US (and US interests) as possible. The wrecking-ball of Speed and Confusion are among the tactics used. The plan seems to be: once the corpse is bled and torn asunder, it’ll get divvied out to the other richer a-holes (donor class) waiting for their cut whilst the US as a superpower is severely diminished or wiped out.
