That was a cathartic watch, thank you.
Majority of Google’s revenue is from search. Iirc, average developed world user is worth a few hundred a year.
Want to stick it to them? Change your browser to something like Opera or firefox, default search engine to something like Duckduckgo.
Relatively painless and if a few thousand of us do it, the dollars start adding up.
It’s the only comedy that made me feel nauseous because of how depressingly on point it was.
Ehhhhhhhhh. The things that people notice as getting worse (climate change, political polarization, erosion of democratic norms) are indeed getting worse.
That being said, the lives of billions of the most poor among us are indeed getting, on average, better by almost every conceivable metric.
I’m not talking about the suburbs. I live by Commercial drive, I have neighbours with backyard chickens.
Edit: For those who don’t know Vancouver, Commercial drive is about a 15 minute bike ride from the heart of downtown.
Sure but the point is that there isn’t a disease sweeping through cattle herds killing most of them etc.
Which is happening to flocks of birds, including poultry.
We have a lot of backyard chicken farms in Vancouver.
There isn’t a massive bovine flu killing huge swathes of flocks…
I love the notion of a Mcdonald’s employee needing MFA.
Or that the only reason people buy smartphones is for MFA (in the years before widespread MFA, I’m sure they were getting them because they knew MFA was just around the corner.)
Edit: I think it’s just easier to admit people don’t really give a fuck about other folks if it would cost them anything. Walk down any street, most people are wearing clothes they know to be made by children who occasionally burn to death and many of those same people will happily fork out $200 for the “coolest” versions of those same child slave made clothes.
How do you reward the work you encounter online?
How do you expect the websites you use to exist if everyone ad blocks them?
If it’s a site I use regularly, I’ll disable ad blocker, especially news. It’d be childish demand people provide me their time, labour and effort for free, especially when the ads cost me nothing.
Did the DNC stop anyone from voting? There was nothing to stop us from outvoting the establishment. “Oh no, the moderators liked Clinton!” The RNC tried way harder with trump and failed.
Are we not as capable as goddamn republicans?
Did you folks not have Red Shoe Diaries?
