99% of people do not give a shit if someone wants to identify as trans as long as they are an adult and they aren’t trying to enter into spaces that belong to the biological gender they are now identifying as.
Where you lose people is when you involve children and when you try to make the argument that trans people are exactly the same as their bilogical mirrors. Everyone knows they are not. It is lunacy to try and pretend they are.
I will happily call them by their prefer name/gender and I will do my best to use neutral terms when I remember, but don’t vilify people for making honest mistakes. Long before the whole transgender topic really blew up I remember accidentally mis gendering people on the phone a few times because I thought they sounded masculine or feminine. There was no ill intent and they didn’t take it as such. They simply corrected me and I apologized and we moved on. That same interaction now has been turned into its own genre of rage bait video for some people.

Not wanting trans women to compete against biological women in sports does not mean people want them to “go away”. It means they aren’t the same as biological women and people are tired of you guys pretending that they are.
When you look people in the eyes and tell them that a biological man that now identifies as a woman can actually get pregnant (despite lacking the biological requirements to do so) you are asking them to ignore reality and science which most people simply aren’t willing to do.
You guys are mad at him but he is taking the same stance that the majority of people have on it.
Whether or not he actually believes that stance only he would know, but I would suspect that like many other people who are now “flipping” on the trans athletes these people probably didn’t support them being in women’s sports, but felt compelled to say they did because of the backlash they were worried about getting.
Now that people are noticing that the general public actually doesn’t want this they are either playing into to popular stance to take or they are just feeling safe to actually express their opinions on the matter authentically.
I have not once claimed I am currently a dem on this website. I have said Multiple times that I used to be one. I’ve been an independent since 2016.
Multiple people on Lemmy have marked me as a conservative/Republican incorrectly because I have one or two stances that don’t align with the left and they assume that I must be a full on Trumpy because of that.
You can see right there that most of my opinions land me pretty much smack dab in the middle of most categories.
When they got rid of the open voice chat between teams at the start, halftime switch and ending it basically went away.
I do miss the halftime shit talk spam though. The picosecond everyone could talk to each other you would just get 10 open mics screaming random shit. One guy would just be calling the opposing teams top Fragger a cheating sack of shit. Someone else would bully the bottom Fragger on the other team for only having 4 kills in a half. Someone would blast ear rape music.
That’s a very healthy mindset to have. Too many people happily lock themselves into many bubbles/echo chambers and they lose all perspective. Just because you discuss topics with people doesn’tean you have to agree with them. It’s still important to know what other views exist out there.

Yes I’ve gone over this with various users on here already. You have me tagged as a Republican or whatever, but every single time anyone has asked me about specific stances they find that I am not.
This is exactly the type of shit I am talking about. The modern left only accepts people who agree with them on all things and think exactly like them. Any slight deviation is viewed as a threat and shoved forcefully away.
But it does reveal what topics both sides either avoid covering or cover poorly.
It’s nothing that should really surprise anyone at this point but it is a good reminder that where you get your news will leave you “blind” (heh) to certain things.
A good example would be like a good guy with a gun situation. Basically any situation that was “saved” by a good guy with a gun doesn’t get much coverage on the left or if they do cover it they tend to ignore the 2A aspect of the event or downplay it’s significance.
On the flip side any news that looks bad for 2A advocates will basically not get reported on by the right at all.
What blind spot is nice for is reading articles from both sides on the same event since they both report on it differently. Reading both and taking into account the underlying biases of each source make you feel like you get a better picture of the whole situation as opposed to just one view.
TL;DR: Not mind blowing at all, but kinda interesting if used correctly.
Ground news is pretty dope and the only people hating on it seem to be the people that have never used it, but thinks that it’s automatically bad because of the whole left/right thing.
It’s still a place to consume a large amount of news very quickly and at a glance you can see if one side isn’t reporting on something or if they are reporting on it using very different language or focusing on different aspects on the topic.
Nothing will ever be perfect, but as the saying goes the enemy of perfect is good.
