The Guardian:

according to export data from the World Bank, the US imported US$1.4m (A$2.23m) of products from Heard Island and McDonald Islands in 2022, nearly all of which was “machinery and electrical” imports. It was not immediately clear what those goods were.

So apparently the penguins are exporting machinery to the US.

Well that sounds like a stupid proposition. The “other member” could simply use their second vote to vote however they want in absence of the lawmaker with a newborn. Surely there are better ways to handle this.
