Any country that allows billionaires to exist will slowly regress towards oligarchy. Political democracy is not sustainable without economic democracy (small businesses, strong labor unions, worker owned co-ops, publicly owned resources / companies)

The debt issue is greatly over exaggerated. The US as a whole owns over 300 trillion in assets and trillions more in untouched resources. The US isn’t broke and it isn’t poor. It only feels poor because

1. our capitalist system is nearly the worst possible system for distributing resources where they actually need to go and
2. Capitalists use their resources to corrupt and bend our government to their will which results in car centric urban sprawl that is 5x less resource efficient.

For example, if we built public transit and walkable cities we could make transit completely free and it would cost far less than subsidizing car dependency. But we can’t do that nation wide because it would devalue the car industry, the asphalt industry, rubber industry, and the oil industry. Under capitalism, the profits of the 0.1% always take priority over what benefits the 99%

4x the annual median salary for a house sounds amazing to me. In the US, low cost of living areas can have a median income of $40k and houses will still cost $320k (8x your annual salary). In areas like San Francisco, median income is around $140k while median house prices are $1.2M (8x the annual income).

So it seems that housing is twice as affordable in China and Germany.

Liberals are also to blame for gaslighting and selling workers out to the capital class for 50+ years. The last Democrat President that actually fought for the proletariat was FDR with his New Deal programs.

Yes, liberals were less evil than Republicans, but when Obama tried to give us universal healthcare they stabbed him in the back and when Bernie set multiple grassroot funding records, they conspired against him and stabbed the entire nation in the back. So if we factor in the opportunities for real leftist leadership that liberals stole from us than that opportunity cost is nearly as damaging as what Republicans are doing.

Exactly. Capitalism is only tolerable as long as the material conditions of the working class improve decade after decade. The average worker has been in steady decline for 50 years, but over the last 25 years nearly the entire working class has been suffering.

I love Germany, but Germany is a democracy. The US isn’t. 70%+ of Americans want universal healthcare, but “our” politicians shit on us and laugh. Most Americans want free college, but again, we get zero representation. We want unions, but companies freely fire workers for organizing and our politicians don’t care. South Dakota voted to legalize marijuana but the governor told the people they were too stupid to know what they voted for so she had one of the judges she appointed overrule democracy.

I could go on and on and on. Anyone who thinks the US is a democracy is extremely ignorant on the issue. Merely voting isn’t a democracy. A representative democracy is only a democracy if the representatives serve the will of the majority.

So get back to me when German politicians start ignoring everything the voters want and start gutting all of their public programs instead and then when politicians who promise to help get elected but do absolutely fucking nothing to help you

Because the US is NOT a democracy and every single right we have was only won through violence. Civil rights? Malcom X and the Black Panthers had to resort to violence. Gay rights? Please see the Stonewall riots. The right to unionize? Workers had to take up guns and fight the police and military multiple times for the mere right to unionize.

That was ages ago. Each covid infection causes brain damage, each person has had covid 4 to 8 times by now, and older people are hurt the most by covid… So even if the guy was smart 30 years ago, we can’t assume he is smart today

Ideally, if the politicians actually believed what they told their votes, then yes, they would do it that way. But… Trump was best friends with Jeffry Epstein. Nearly all the Maga billionaires visited Epstein’s island. The Republican party is full of pedos, sex traffickers and Nazis.

There was evidence. There are tons of videos of Biden speaking in the 80s and 90s. Compare any of those videos to hin speaking in 2021, 2022, or 2023 and you could very easily tell that his mind had become a pale shadow of what it once was.

Pointing out that the CCP is using their power to build highspeed rail, nuclear energy, tons of public housing, and huge solar projects might seem like glazing, but I think those projects are worthy of praise.
