  • You’re supposed to understand that the vast majority of society are shallow idiots that’ve been misled by immersion in state-sponsored propaganda.

    Then, engage the socialists and communists. They know what to do, why, and how. The last time we had the numbers for meaningful change was the late 1940s: Veterans of WW1 became armed socialists and communists which resulted in The New Deal.

    Corporate personhood is what’s made much of this incarnation possible. If you want to dehumanize something then focus on the root cause.

  • People that invest $350 + subscription into hiking safety with an inReach don’t hike into the desert with less than a day’s water. They’ve got at least three maps between Garmin, GMaps or iMaps, and the map they’re actually using to navigate, and don’t get lost very often. Even the most basic inReach mini augments phone GPS for positioning and vector in the Garmin app. One has to be damned near under full tree cover or in a horrible thunderstorm for it to fail to send a text. And, they’d have instead pushed the SoS button, which is literally better than 911 outside any city, which is why it’s the gold standard until mountaineering equipment.

    I’d bet $5 this group was desperate and trying everything they could think of. They didn’t have an inReach or they’d be alive.

  • First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out — Because I was MLK’s white moderate.

    I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro’s great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen’s Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate,

    who is more devoted to “order” than to justice;

    who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice;

    who constantly says: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action”;

    who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man’s freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a “more convenient season.”

    Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.
