You might think you do, but the stock market is wholly price controlled. Even the Great Recession will never happen again. The market is controlled by huge banks and hedge funds using HFT algorithms and dark pools. Price means nothing and big drops are in any case performative.

The following weeks will demonstrate this, as the bounce(s) will take back the great majority of the perceived losses. Behind the scenes, of course, these same institutions love being given the opportunity to display this performative disapproval, as they make untold fortunes using the stock market as their own personal pump and dump.

Talk means nothing, look at what he does. All his actual actions benefit the Kremlin and serve to further it’s goals. Words do not inflict sanctions, and repeatedly saying shit while doing other shit just makes it seem like the Kremlin is looking for plausible deniability for their puppet. Wake me up when anything at all has been done that materially damages Russia or Russian interests, because that right there will be a fucking news story.

If judges’ orders can be ignored with no consequence, we’re done as a country.

Judges have zero recourse to enforce judgements against the executive branch. All previous executives who have obeyed an order given by a judge have obeyed it voluntarily. The only recourse would be for congress to impeach and convict the president, which of course will not happen. It’s tempting to call this an oversight by the Founders, but it seems to me that this is by design. As long as there is not a congress that will convict the president, the courts cannot truly tell the president what to do.

Unironically, this. I know they’re trying to crack a joke but it’s absolutely true. Been saying it for years. The men who enthusiastically participate in this movement are men who crave the attention their own fathers couldn’t or wouldn’t give them. They are because of this the weakest men among us - and you can tell because they have to cosplay at being tough guys but would go on national TV and say something as degrading and stupid as this and not have an ounce of self-reflection about it because they know they’re talking to other people just like them.
