Not surprising considering the velveeta treason weasel himself is the type of clueless boomer who says things like his son is “very good with the cyber” and “everything is computer”. I highly doubt he could power his phone off without help.
Also [email protected]. Not a lot of Zeppos out here.

If Trump’s goal was really to bolster domestic manufacturing and other industries, I support that. The way he’s going about tariffs has been incredibly dumb though. One, he seems to think it’s a way to punish a country. It’s not clear why he’s picking the biggest fights with our allies, either. Claiming it’s about fentanyl and migrants is absurd. Then also, the admin has regularly lied about who pays tariffs and how they work. Trump also says incredibly stupid things like “once we have hundreds of billions in tariffs coming in, we’re going to be so rich”.
And if he really wanted to encourage people to switch to domestic production, introducing them gradually would make more sense to give companies time to build factories and whatnot. But also they’re not going to make investments with no guarantee that the tariffs will be around d in 5 years. Also, there are some products that simply can’t be produced in the US because we don’t have the resources - why tax those? Such as fertilizers and lumber from canada? What’s the point? Why not just selectively tariff things for industries he wants to promote?
So in real life it seems Trump is just harming consumers, picking fights with our allies, regressive shifting tax burdens, and wrecking the economy. Hmm.
I wish I could. It’s hard to get a community started on any new site where people have to make accounts and get in the habit of going there. The network effect is tough to overcome, too… people go where other people are, and then those places have content, and most people consume content, not create it. Also Reddit will ban you for promoting Lemmy, even through DMs.
It’s still good for niches. I am in a couple subs about health conditions, and there are no comparable communities on Lemmy. I haven’t observed the composition or activity level of the groups change at all over the past couple of years.
Huh, why would Elron do that? Go figure.
No, I did not get what I voted for.
Within the last week they were found to be taking credit for cancelling contracts that ended years ago.
Republicans regularly crash the economy. Then they get to bailouts (and select the winners or losers for that), and buy up assets cheap. The way the population has been convinced, against all evidence, that republicans are better economically and fiscally is a triumph of their propaganda.
Good idea. That’s true now, but personally most of my experience needing programming info was several years ago.
I agree. If you’re starting something new and just want to get the gist of it, a video could definitely be helpful. Where I get frustrated is if I only want a reference for one or two specific things, and I have to skip through this 40 minute video to find the 2 sentences and code example I’m looking for.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. Back 10-15 years ago I was learning JavaScript, Python, CSS etc and I saw people say “I learned programming from videos!” and was wtf, how? Maybe a video explanation could be okay, but trying to extract certain kinds of technical information from a video is maddening and takes 10x as long as getting it from text.
Sounds like bullshit. I’d say he was totally serious and then is now, after it mostly fizzles, is giving the suitty excuse because he’s a childish and weasely coward.
There’s something ongoing, though. If Trump didn’t think he needed him still, or didn’t have some reason he’s forced to keep him around, he’d just tell Musk to fuck off. Same as how he fires appointees, doesn’t follow through on other contracts and stiffs people on bills.
That’s a good point. Zucker has a higher amount of dislike vs. intense dislike.
Zucker kinda somewhat tried to do that with the “metaverse” thing. He pulled it off very poorly and it was a stupid idea in the first place, though.
I’m surprised Zuckerberg is more disliked than Elron. Though Zucker has done some weird shit lately taking Facebook culture right wing, he’s been way less of a public pain in the ass than Musk. He’s been widely known as a dislikable figure for longer though.
I recall how in 2015 many in the Republican establishment were actually opposed to Trump getting into power. Then, they suddenly flipped and started saying he was the best ever, and have since then. It seems they got here on fear of Trump and his fervent fans and after enabling him for years, they end up… in fear of Trump and his fans.
Must be a tough decision to stop working so hard on harming the country and enjoy retirement.
Who could have known??
As long as we’re here I’ll also mention how this degenerate cretin also insisted on using his own private Android phone rather than one issued by the government. I’d say it’s 100% certain his phones have been hacked as shit for at least 10 years.
