I didn’t say censorship. They could’ve regulated social media as actual Media outlets, which puts them on the hook for libel lawsuits if blatantly fake disinformation is advertised on their platforms. In other words, they have to follow the same rules as traditional media outlets.

The point is, China doesn’t want this trade war at all, and neither do we. Trump and Co. are complete morons that are fucking up the global economy for nonsensical reasons. Yes, other countries can eventually establish new trade deals without the US, and they likely will, but let’s not pretend they all can just bounce back within a few months if these idiotic shenanigans continue.

I think social media plays a far bigger influential role nowadays in terms of raw numbers. A lot of younger conservative boomers and Gen Xers really consume the shit out of platforms like Facebook. If you regulated Facebook as an actual Media Outlet, they’d suddenly be liable for outright libel and other grossly false ads they permit and promote.

Hate to break it to you, but our police have been militarized with military gear for decades. During the massive George Floyd protests in 2020, the police used all of those weapons against crowds (except microwave, but they definitely used some type of sonic/sound crowd control weapons).
I haven’t looked into hard numbers, I just know there have been various protests around the country on an almost weekly basis. They definitely should be bigger, but due to the enormous size of the US, our shitty city/suburban design, our shitty public transport systems, and most people barely living check to check, organizing and executing massive protests is quite difficult.
