Sounds like he had a choice to me. Do his job or bow to a fascist. I guess continuing is a waste of time if you’ve stopped giving a rat’s ass about the law you swore to uphold. I won’t disagree that my comment isn’t factually correct, but frankly at this point it feels like semantics. Our justice system is fucked and no one is holding those who deserve it accountable. The mechanics of how or why frankly are irrelevant to me.
It’s not human trafficking, it’s human shipping.
I bet the jury votes to convict, and the judge decides to sentence him to jack shit.
Yup, euphemistic language is preferred. It’s all very Orwellian. Soon the Supreme Court will be the Department of Truth.
Not pretentious at all. This is the exact thing Orwell was warning about. Never a better time to quote it.
Even worse were the conservatives in other countries trying to follow suit, like Nexit in the Netherlands or Frexit in France. Luckily then Brexit happened and everyone suddenly went quiet.
“There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.” Best anyone can do is make informed decisions to minimize the harm to the best of their abilities.
… would face prosecution in a world that had any shred of dignity left
I think we both know what the problem is there.
The main difference is, that it is now reaching you, personally.
Ah, republicans and not giving a shit until it hurts them, name a more iconic duo.
Are you suggesting they drive… a hybrid?!
Yeah, I’m not sure exactly where he thinks he fits in Hitler’s idea of the übermensch.
I’d take that as a confession to being complicit whenever we get to the US equivalent of the Nuremberg trials.
I remember reading a book as a kid, I can’t remember if it was this or maybe inspired by this, but adapted for kids (iirc the art style was more cartoony and comedic) where archeologists unearth a motel called the Toot and C’mon.
Edit: after a bit of searching I think it was this book. Unlocked some memories I didn’t realize I had.
Elon Musk just threw up a sieg heil and the crowd cheered. I am entirely out of hope. I’m glad some people can find solace in hoping for a better tomorrow, but I am not one of those people.
Some people are really weird when it comes to things being “fair.” I forget the details but I remember a study where given the option of getting $100 and a stranger getting $200, a good chunk of people would rather neither of them get anything.
The amount of copuim in that thread is unreal. One lady literally saying it’s cool because God uses the same abusive language.
