I think it can be a (bad) cultural thing. When I told my mom I worried my cousin’s new husband was abusive, my mom told me he was “a regular Kentucky man. They’re just like that.”

(My other cousin confirmed her sister’s new husband was an abusive dick, but sister refused to leave him. Other cousin and I both went out of state for college, which helps break indoctrination. We were back in town for a funeral.)

The one time I’ve found a dropped wallet, it had ID for like 5 different people in it. I dropped that off at the local police station and walked away.

My partner lost wallet at a bus stop. It got buried under snow for a season and when the snow melted a month later it was turned in to the police station, who called partner. All his (by then cancelled) cards were still in the wallet, plus what felt like the right amount of cash.

I care! I was one of the 3 trans people in the fencing club and I really dislike being told there are so few “trans college athletes” that I was about 10% of the total (assuming the prevalence of trans college athletes has remained constant from 15 years ago to today).

I don’t find it useful to quote statistics without recognizing their sources and limitations. It leads to inaccurate perceptions of reality.

It was a club sport and counted as a PE class for college credit. I get that the NCAA doesn’t cover clubs, but the image and parent comment didn’t specify NCAA sanctioned sports.

I’d be shocked if there’s only 10 trans college athletes. My college fencing club had three I could name, 15 years ago. My current college has at least one.

Now, out trans women who competed in NCAA sports, certainly a smaller set of people.

Also, totes agree it’s ridiculous to care about (I don’t know how to call it) the “integrity” of college women’s sports more than something that is actually harming and killing kids.

It’s funny because Chinese snake oil (made from Chinese water snakes) may have actually been effective for aches and soreness due to its high omega-3 content. Then, American charlatans got ahold of the “snake oil” idea and made it with “alternative” ingredients (mineral oil, maybe rattlesnake if you’re lucky) that did not convey the same benefits.

I use a shelf-stable egg replacer in my baking, mostly because I hardly ever have eggs on hand. (Bob’s Red Mill is the brand I see, but I’m sure there’s other brands out there)

I guess I’m big on shelf-stable substitutes for stuff that goes bad fast: I also have powdered milk for baking/sauces, and textured vegetable protein to add protein and texture to things I’d usually use ground meat for, where the meat’s flavor would be overpowered by the sauce anyway.

Have you tried powdered milk? I like it because it’s shelf stable. We use plant milk for most drinks and cereal, powdered milk for cooking.

I’ve been having good luck with Mercari. It’s an online flea market where individuals sell their stuff. It helps that I dress boring and know my size in a few specific brands/items.

I kind of wish I knew what the happy pills were–they seemed super effective on everyone that took them (I think at one point my grandma, mom, and her two nieces were on them), and they were effective after one dose.

Myself, the hardest med I’ve had was codeine after wisdom teeth removal. Joke’s on me, codeine makes me vomit, which really sucks after wisdom teeth removal. Opiates are not my friend.

I remember my mom trying to tell her niece the trick to dealing with mom’s sister. Niece was very resistant–“no, no, I know how to handle my mom”. Finally my mom explained that the trick is to take Grandma’s new happy pills.

That was a weird summer spent at the hospital, with Grandpa in the ICU and mom’s sister driving everyone batty (including Grandma, hence the new happy pills).

Oh, and Mom got really talkative driving me home on happy pills and that’s how I learned my dad was her second husband. I was a college sophomore, iirc.

My USA town will let you look up your taxes with just your last name and first initial. You can find out what real estate and car someone owns with that. Dog license seems to be in a different system.

My salary is public information because I’m a public employee.

I’m a millennial and my college required that test prior to enrolling in classes. That was the first time I took the (rather distressing, tbh, maybe they should have to warned me) skin inflatey test.

I just looked and my college still requires that test. So, might just be a regional thing. Grad school in the same state didn’t require the test, so maybe it had to do with staying in the dorms in undergrad?

Clearly people born with a cleft pallette aren’t human to them. Which is kind of a weird thing to say and believe.
