The US is the only large country that taxes its citizens on their worldwide income.
That’s untrue. As a Canadian, I know we do, and I believe we’re far from alone. I don’t know why people keep perpetuating this myth.

Sure, but your previous comment said:
This was more money than the 2000 presidential campaign by either side
But that’s not true if they’re both 2000/2025 dollars. So at least now the dollars are apples-to-apples.
This isn’t the judge’s fault. They work within a system and can’t force a prosecutor to pursue a case. What else do you expect them to do?

I don’t disagree there’s too much money in politics, but let’s compare apples-to-apples. With inflation, $100M in 2025 would be ~$54M in 2000.
That’s not the cost of running the election, that’s the parties spending on the election, correct? So those funds were never going to go into infrastructure. I definitely agree we overspend on politics for politics sake, but please don’t conflate political party funds with government funds.
Well, the judge can order the arrest of those people. We shall soon find out whether law enforcement will actual follow those orders…
It’s like when you sell a car, once the title is signed over and you get the money the deal is done.
No, if you want a car to be your analogy, it’s more like a rental. The US is actively paying El Salvador to detain them. They can end that deal whenever they want.
I know that the BIG issue everyone’s worried about is they obviously did something (actually, quite a few things) wrong and aren’t being held to account.
However, the other thing I can’t let go of is the fact that they complain about Clinton & Biden, but then refuse to investigate this situation. Whatever you feel about those 2 (personally I think they were handled properly), those situations were investigated and they were cleared. Simply declaring this matter closed without even going through the motion to investigate just increases the level of sketchiness.
All of those companies have plants both in the US & Canada (and I’m sure Mexico too, I’m just less familiar). As someone who lives in Southwestern Ontario, we have a lot of car brands, both foreign and domestic, plus the supply chains for the parts that go into those cars.
Saying the big 3 are “primarily in Canada and Mexico” is just untrue, especially comparing it to Japanese brands. They’re all heavily relying on CUSMA.
There is nothing wrong with using FOSS without contributing. You can’t have any expectations if you don’t contribute, but it’s not mooching, it’s a fundamental component of Open Source licensing.
With that said, the government of the Netherlands is already doing a decent job of supporting FOSS.
I grew up watching it. In the era of linear TV, even with cable we had maaaybe 2 or 3 other legitimate options for family TV time on that night, at that time. It was non-offensive (funny saying that about Trump now), family friendly, reality TV. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but it was well produced, and mindlessly entertaining.
Now, at the same time, while I understand for many people, “the apprentice convinced them he’s a business genius,” that’s SOOO frustrating. I completely agree with you about “his fucking stupidity.” I think the first few seasons, they cut it well to make him appear intelligent. However, as the show went on, I suspect he wanted more and more screen time, and that distracted from the actual show and that’s when we started to notice “his fucking stupidity” showing.
The effect to my life will be as miniscule as squishing an ant.
Assuming you’re an American, the effects will be HUGE. Our economies are sooo interdependent.
Same in Canada.

Sure, that’s completely true but unrelated to what you said in your original comment. I quote:
You were not talking about non-resident citizens, so stop moving the goalposts.
Plus, the US has one of the lowest tax rates of any of those “large countries” you talked about. So unless a US citizen resided in a country without a tax treaty with the US (there’s not many of them), they’re almost certainly being charged enough tax in their resident country that they pay $0 to the IRS on non-USA income.
