Yeah, I remember this at the time and while a lot of people were relishing the schadenfreude, there was still the perennial point that when UI/UX is any more difficult than it needs to be for a loathesome person, it’s equally difficult for everyone else, too. I can’t find the photo I took, which is annoying, but I was working in schools a couple of years back and in the IT room there was a huge display on the wall with the title “Amazing Things We Can Do With Computers” and the list was, literally, this:

FWIW, Chromebooks can be used as more than just web browser devices. The real problem is who is setting - and teaching - the curriculum. Some other schools had amazing curriculums but they usually had one, single, solitary, clued-up teacher.

They are, but I feel like there are people who like to cause unnecessary confusion by making things out to be more complex than they are (not just limites to roundabouts, either).
