How likely do you think it is that he’ll actually return to the UK to face charges? Or that Trump still extradite him?

Here at Lemmy we’ll deliver fucking idiots right to your computer.
It sounds like she got a case of Rhabdomyolysis from getting so bruised up. Hard to say how bad it really was. Rare to have that happen with relatively minor blunt trauma but not unheard of.
I’m sure it was a misunderstanding in education regarding how soon you’d die without dialysis. That or she’s refusing. In truth she wouldn’t likely die in that short of timeframe even without dialysis. But I figure that’s the hard deadline the doctors gave her to decide before she starts experiencing significant problems that may preclude her from changing her mind. Generally if you’re 4 days away from dying of kidney failure you have encephalopathy from uremia so bad that you’re not going to be making coherent social media posts. I’m not a fan of the fact that even the BBC ran this story uncritically.
Doesn’t matter in my opinion when it comes to the western honeybee. They’re not native to the Americas. But they’re specifically citing beekeepers.
It has everything to do with farming. Indian states can’t cull cattle by slaughter but produce an immense amount of milk and have female productive cows having a male calf roughly every 36 months(really less than that, but we’ll be conservative). Where the hell do you think these male calves are going if they can’t be slaughtered or killed? They’re largely “naturally” removed by starvation and dehydration. Real humane. They’re certainly not all ending up in sanctuaries. Same with the majority of unproductive female cattle. With a productive cow producing a calf roughly every year over their four to five year production period and the natural lifespan being around 20 years there’s a mathematical problem here that results in starving urban cattle. That or we entirely replace India’s human population with cattle.
Chickens are just fragile anyway even free range. Go ahead and try to raise your own and tally up how many die between sexing to get female chicks and just environmental deaths. Of note, I’m no vegan, but the idea that egg eating is somehow morally superior to meat eating is kind of silly to me. Like milk, the things you do to create the conditions to collect plenty of it ain’t without harm and death.
It’d frankly be pretty wasteful to raise eggs or milk without occasionally eating whatever you cull. See India’s starving abandoned urban cattle eating trash for a practical example of that.
Edit; OP deleted their account citing me as a major reason when I never even replied to them, lol. Some folks get defensive about the damnedest things.
Bacon, a former Air Force brigadier general
So he’s not just a random idiot like most GOP reps I guess. Not precluding him from being an idiot on account of being a GOP rep though. Kamala won his district so he wouldn’t gain much from sucking Trump’s dick too often.
Gave it to the gun lobby, might as well give it to them too. More externalities means better capitalism you know? The tragedy of the commons is the goal. Burn it all.
My point is that each strain of US libertarianism has it’s justifications derived from social conflict considerations masked as liberty. I’m not in the same class as fuedalistic tech bros and I’m not an ally of Lew Rockwell supporting White identy folks. There’s many types of libertarians but the overall ideological drivers are disingenuous self interest on deciding what parts of the state they want to keep. And that’s the key behind libertarianism, because despite all the belief of the natural rights to property it has always and inexorably been tied to state power. Any attempt to preserve that only comes from the desire to preserve power structures. Which ones to be preserved are dependent on class (or some other social construct) interest.
I don’t believe I said that no. Do you believe I’m some sort of strict Marxist out of the line of text I’ve provided? If you’d like to make a point or an argument, it would be best to make it
Yes I believe the general point I’m making is their politics are a mask for class warfare.
I’ll be your tyrannicide.
Oh they still want the state. They just want the police for only enforcing their property and contact laws. The unjust laws are the ones that don’t favor them of course.
One thing about Reddit though is you couldn’t see the mod log and know which subs were run by crazy people.
I’m pretty impressed by that mod action frankly. In a bad way.
A very praxis heavy article. Good. They’re right to differentiate the protests vs boycotts and strikes. Protests are the threats and rallies are the organization. Disruptive action is what is going to work now. The problem is our organization for it is still pretty poor.
You should repost this somewhere better though. It’s going to be removed since it’s an opinion piece and not a news article.
That’s because he still believes he’s going to succeed with his appeal. The delusions last for a long time with these folks. He likely put in a hardship appeal to bypass her ban on re-entry for however many years due to overstaying her visa. And he actually believes this administration will sign off on it.
A successful appeal in a past administration could take well over a year. He’s truly fucked under Trump who’s actively firing judges that approve too many waivers in their opinion and making the backlog even longer. He’s not wrong that the system has been fundamentally broken and nonsensical. He’s an exceptional idiot for thinking Trump is going to improve it though.
Edit: https://www.uscis.gov/i-601 is what I’m talking about
Finally, news that’s impactful for Lemmy’s userbase.
citing fierce competition from foreign fast fashion retailers
Like anything they sold was domestically produced in the first place
Exactly. It seems people really need it spelled out to them: he’s saying protectionism works in the long term but they’re old and will all be dead(a keynes quote “The long run is a misleading guide to current affairs. In the long run we are all dead”). He’s wrong though. Protectionism, which are essentially self sanctions, can develop an industry as much as not. Nothing’s a vacuum.
