Small, small minds see this as a threat to American liberties.

That’s one tiny - TINY -aspect of what’s happening right now. It’s a symptom of what’s going on, and not even the most eggregious one by far.

The US is self-destructing and simultaneously using that chaos to threaten other nations. It’s a race between total internal collapse and world war III, and at this point most of the world is hoping the US ends up killing itself in a 50-year civil war.

Maybe you missed it, but he has declared complete lawlessness for himself and his cronies.

He’s not asking, he has already declared it.

I’m one of those people. I joined reddit in 2006, and was a very active poster/commenter for nearly two decades.

I deleted all of my alt accounts and logged out of my main for good, well over a year ago. The communities I was involved in were still mostly human and organic, but I saw far too many people getting blocked for disagreeing with the organization. (In addition to all of the other bullshit they were pulling, of course.)

I left, and came here. Lemmy was a wasteland of so few posts that I could read/skim ALL OF THE POSTS on Lemmy, across the fediverse! It was sparse, but I resolved to be the community I sought.

And now we’re…getting there. Reddit still has more real content, but it’s not worth digging through the trash for, and they’re not a company I want to prop up anyway.

A whole lot to protest, actually.

He ALLEGEDLY killed a man. Not been proven in court yet, and he is claiming that he’s being framed.

Also even if it’s true, terrorism charges are wildly inappropriate, and are being used here as a threat.

Then there’s the matter of him being paraded around with a dozen armed guards, a clear violation of international law which guarantees the dignity of prisoners.

Finally, even if he deliberately murdered the CEO of a large healthcare provider, and deserves jail time, etc., there is still the fact that said CEO was complicit in the deaths of hundreds of patients that had claims denied, for the sake of endless profiteering.

So, yeah. Protest.

Piss off, spammer.

Hope some of you in the US will be protesting at the courtroom.
