The way i’m reading this - Trump is unable to do so because the US is now weak and feeble.

Clinton, Obama, Biden, maintained our geopolitical strength and would have exercised it.

(this ignores the fact that none of the prior presidents were nazis)

Nope, that’s the nonsense argument the administration is trying to push in court right now, but they’re lying like usual. The US could get this man back from El Salvador with a phone call but they’re choosing not to do so, continuing a long tradition of giving nonwhite people crappier legal process and fewer substantive rights that goes back continuously through several presidents. It would be great if the US was weak and feeble and unable to do things like carry out the murder of our own citizens overseas via drone strike like we did in 2011 or provide an endless stream of weapons to Israel to support the genocide they’ve been carrying out since 2023, but unfortunately America still has one of the most lethal fighting forces in the world.

They were Nazis too, or at least Nazi adjacent. They were just smart and competent and playing the long game which would have landed us here in 20-50 years without any domestic resistance.

        You are so completely wrong.

The dixiecrats? They LITERALLY inspired the nazis.

Hitler wrote about them as the model for a racially pure Germany in mein kampf.

The Nuremberg Laws are Jim crow with the name crossed out at the top.

Even the nazis weren’t as cruel and evil as the dixiecrats, they wanted to remove people to gain their land and wealth. The dixiecrats used economics as an excuse, it was only ever about absolute cruelty and evil.

Black GIs came back from liberating Europe from nazis, to be tortured and lynched on trees.

The south is so far beyond evil it’s incalculable.

I don’t disagree with you at all.

I’m just pointing out that when the neoliberals slow walk us toward a dystopia, nobody seems to complain or people even come out in defense of them. Trump and his republicans followers are evil morons, but all of the democrats in that list had a hand in bringing us to where we are now.

Trump is a clumsy frog boiler, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been in this pot for decades at least.

Yea i love it. why take 20 years to maybe improve incrementally, when we can self destruct in months and you can get some wicked internet points before the hunger games begin.

I wasn’t a big fan of our trajectory either. I’m so thankful we could just speed up the process and have all the results at once. No time to fix anything when you’re drooling over everything burning down. You’re right this is all good. I’m looking forward to a world of insecurity where only the strong survive. Are you? Or are you just hoping that out of the choas some kind of order will magically appear that was better than before?

Nowhere in any of my posts did I say this was good or that I appreciate it. Are you responding to the right person?

This is a shit situation, but you’re doing yourself a disservice thinking that this only started with Trump.

Your OP comment stated that the Democrats would’ve had us here in 20-50 years. Which is a crazy statement considering there will be two entire generations that haven’t been born voting in 50 years.

We’ve been ratcheting farther and farther to the right for nearly fifty years. I’m not claiming to be a fortune teller, but this is the direction that both parties have been pushing us (one faster and one slower, but both in the same direction).

Neither of them is on your side. One is definitely playing the bad guy and lesser-of-two-evils can get us out of a disaster a couple of times, but they’re both taking us to the same place in the end.

[ed: To be clear, I don’t think there’s actually a unified conspiracy between the parties. Only that a group of likeminded individuals acting in their own self interest is indistinguishable from a conspiracy. The christofascist stuff is unique to one side, but what each of them has in mind both look like a dystopia for us.]

I disagree that they were nazis or nazi adjacent.

They were the fount of the nazis evil, far worse, more cruel, more vicious, and not done out of greed but merely out of a lust to torture.

            You had the relationship reversed.
