Yeah you’ll get one board member, maybe, if they feel like it. The steps needed even just to reform capitalism to eliminate gender inequality are considered way too radical by neoliberals.
That only happened because half the world united to put and end to the Nazi madness and completely destroyed any bargaining power they had.
I don’t see that happening here. Best case scenario they are so thoroughly humiliated and discredited that they quietly creep off into the sunset. But I’m not sure I see that happening either, honestly.
There’s gotta be at least one somewhere… but none come to mind.
This validates my preexisting opinion that the internet is full of misinformation, therefore I will upvote it.
Turns out Trump can make any world leader look good.
I know that’s an important safety rule but I’m asking specifically about the law.
Even if this is all true, is it normal to be charged with attempted murder just for pointing a gun at someone? Isn’t that usually called brandishing?
I’m aware but thinking this was a good idea is the part I can’t tell if it’s real.
It seems fairly obvious to me that this was a poor decision.
This still doesn’t help I’m afraid.
I’m praying this is satire but I can no longer tell in 2025.
How well-known were that facts around those events at the time though? The availability of information is much much greater today, which allows people to easily learn about and even see atrocities happening in real time. Was there a similar availability of information to challenge propaganda back then too? I wasn’t alive but it doesn’t seem so.
Not in my experience lol
Maybe you are right. The lack of transparency is the most concerning to me and in that situation maybe it’s best not to assume that the changes are benign. It’s up to them to prove they are, which so far they haven’t done.
This isn’t the deathbed though. We still have by far the most powerful military in the world, a huge foreign policy apparatus, and a large integrated economy. This is like if your asshole boss comes down with a mental illness and just starts going nuts. Sure, it’s bad for him and could be kind of good… but there’s a high chance you’re going down with him.
Why would a few tweaks negatively affect their quality of life? I completely agree the marketing is scummy and a gimmick but it is the next step in this type of research, if you ignore the spin.
I think it’s interesting and worthwhile research but I agree with you that they’re overhyping this and it leaves a lot to be desired. To make real dire wolves at minimum we would need much more complete DNA, and maybe more beyond that.
Well to be fair we don’t know what the ecological effects of them would be. They could well be positive. This is a species that many of our living species today coexisted with for millions of years before they went extinct in the recent past. It’s possible (I think likely) that today’s ecosystems are meaningfully impaired by their absence in ways we can’t recognize because we have never studied what the complete ecosystem would look like.
In my mind it would be worthwhile to create a small preserve and study what those interactions look like. We thought gray wolves were harmful to nature for hundreds of years until we actually did the science to find out we were wrong.
Because they’ll arrest you if you don’t? I mean the answer is pretty obvious.
Just because the law doesn’t apply to them doesn’t mean illegal actions by dissidents won’t be met by extreme violence. In fact we’re already seeing this.
If we could all do civil disobedience together simultaneously it would work but it’s not clear how to organize this without any leaders who can be rounded up.
Well, those people are wrong but I’m not sure it’s that important of a distinction. Trump has openly said he is looking for a legal justification to do this to citizens soon.
