While you’re right about that being fake, it’s just pandering to their base who do take issue with forms of self-expression that are common amongst queer, trans and/or autistic students. Things like wearing a collar, a tail or cat ears are absolutely relatively common and this bill targets those all the same.

I think they were maybe speaking to the peer-to-peer “hosting” part of peertube. If not enough people are contributing to bandwidth, then more falls back to the server, increasing the cost to run it.

Source? Only reason I’m using Apple Maps in the first place is because I need public transport directions and it’s not Google Maps. Organic Maps doesn’t have them, and I don’t want to use the app my state gov puts out because the way it calculates connections is garbage. Which is a concerning escalation in privacy issues from Microsoft to me.

I mean, it apparently just needed to be de-selected, but my comment was more about how bloody concerning it is that Win11 devices just connect to whatever nearby open wifi network they can find to phone home.

I think that the lack of a point for the suppression of LGBTQIA+ people is a critical error in the data there. Transgender people were deeply and violently suppressed in Nazi Germany, and very early on.

Lots of people in this thread calling him out for not doing the bypass, and I really don’t want to be defending him, but he did try too. The issue was that the computer automatically connected to a nearby open wifi network so was not presenting the no network option. I’m completely sure that no bad actors are going to take advantage of this fact to infect new machines.

With Linux so easy to use, it’s hard to understand why someone would use Windows unless they had a really low intelligence and struggled to learn anything new (like they had a brain disease, developmental issues, etc.) or if they were using it it in an enterprise or virtual setting.

I genuinely believe that if he was still around he’d of ended up a proponent for federated social media. I’m pretty sure he was the driving force behind opening it’s source, and it wasn’t until four years after his death that it was closed off again.
