He’s been indicted on state charges in NY, and also Federal charges, so he will be tried twice for the same crime, no matter what the NY trial decides. He can’t be executed for the NY state charges, but he can be executed by the Feds.
So conceivably he could be found not guilty in NY, and still get executed by a Federal court.
He rejected the plea deal. Taking a plea deal means you forgo trial. Granted actual mass murderers received lesser sentences like LWOP.

She was the Florida AG, and they were about to levy a $25 million fine against him. That let him know the kind of AG she was, so he gave her the Fed version. He WANTED a corrupt AG that he can bribe.
